How do I fix the hair on my dolls?

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008
armatose asked:

I started collecting porcelain dolls when I was a girl. I recently took them out of storage and some of them are having a bad hair day. Is there anyway I can fix their hair? Is there anyway I can prevent this from happening with my newer dolls?

Why do people buy life like doll later on in their adult hood?

Sunday, April 13th, 2008
fourcheeks4 asked:

Are they for people who don’t have children and want one that looks just like one? I see them in all of the magazines, and I think it is pointless. If it is just to collect okay, but what would be the point? Just to have the doll who looks like a baby? I have just seen them ever since I was young and thought it was pointless, in the magazine it has a babydoll that looks like a baby, has lifelike breathing, has real baby hair, and has a woman holding the babydoll like a real one.
I wouldn’t pay 150 or 200 hundred dollars for a life like baby, wants the point besides collecting, they doll looks like it is for older people, to carry around with them

How much is my Cabbage Patch Doll worth?

Sunday, April 13th, 2008
catfisher1979 asked:

I bought a Cabbage Patch Doll around the years of 1978-1982 (not sure of exact year). I bought her straight from the Babyland hospital in Geogia. She came with registration, birthcertificate, adoption papers and footprints. I still have all of these papers. She is soft-sculptured, and has Xavier Roberts signature on her bottom, along with a birthmark. Since the day I brought her home, she has been kept on a shelf with a bag over her as to avoid dust and dirt from collecting on her. She is in mint, brand new condition……without a flaw. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much this doll may be worth. Can anyone help?
I’ve allready checked ebay, and can’t find anything like it or even close to it. All they have are ones made by coleco/mattel…etc.

Who created the first Barbie Doll? Where did they get her looks from? An actual woman or an ideal image?

Jack asked:

Is this why many girls are now anorexic and bullimic because they played with barbie dolls when they were young and think that is how they should look?

sexy 2006 asked:

I recently aquired an old victorian bisque doll, from a carboot sale, im not sure of her real age or origins, she looks old, i collect dolls, but this one is a bit strange! shes made of bisque and has open/closing sleep eyes which are the most striking blue and quite freaky, shes pale white like a ghost, the blue of her eyes contrast draymaticly with the pale skin tone, everyone who has seen her says shes spooky , ive not had her long only afew days. she is normanly on a shelf in my room but i bring her down stairs during the day because i get a strange feeling she doesnt like being left alone, i notice at night shes a bit freaky especially around midnight, she seems to watch me! at first i thought i was going mad and texed my mate at 1am coz i was so spooked, the 1st night i had her in my room sitting at the end of the bed she had her head facing down but she seemed to be looking up at me, she looks as if shes watching you out the corner of her eyes but her eyes face forward, ??

How to find hobbies when nothing sounds interesting?

Saturday, April 12th, 2008
Bunny asked:

I currently only have one hobby, which is collecting and photographing dolls.

In the past, Ive done all kinds of art and photography…and I got bored with it all because it was lonely. I would like to find something to do besides doll stuff. Ive met everyone in my state there is to meet who own my type of dolls. No others interest me.

Currently I have one friend, and I would like to make more. However I dont drive, and I have ZERO dollars to spend on things like admission fees, and supplies for new and expensive hobbies.

I litterally have NOTHING that interests me. I love art, but im getting bored with it now. I dont like to read a lot, and I’d like to get out of the house and not spend so much time on the net..

But it seems like every option I come up with, is either too expensive, too far away, or it just doesnt hold my interest.

How can I branch out and find new hobbies (and new people) when Im so limited as far as money and transportation goes?

Viola
